Dakshineswar Temple, Dakshineswari Kali Mandir, History of Dakshineswar, Dakshineswari Mandir Dakshineswar Temple Located on the eastern side of the Hooghly River, Dakshineswar Kali Temple is a Hindu Navratna temple located in Dakshineswar, close to Kolkata. The Goddess is Bhavatarini, an aspect of Kali, the Goddess presiding over the temple, which means, 'frees the devotees from Sahastra i.e. from the' ocean of existence '. Rani Rashmoni was a devotee of Kali Ma, a philanthropist by whom the temple was built in 1855. The 19th-century temple of Bengal is famous for its association with a mystic Ramakrishna. There is a large courtyard around the temple, which has rooms with boundary walls, in addition to the temple complex, the nine-sponsored main temple.
